How to Change Your Wii's Region and Language Settings with Any Region Changer V.1.1b

How to Change Your Wii's Region and Language Settings with Any Region Changer V.1.1b

If you have ever wanted to play games or access channels from other regions on your Wii, you might be interested in Any Region Changer V.1.1b, a homebrew application that lets you modify various settings on your Wii's SYSCONF and setting.txt files. These files determine which region and language your Wii uses for the System Menu, discs, channels, and online services. By changing these settings, you can enjoy games and channels from different regions on your Wii.

However, before you proceed, you should be aware of the risks involved in using this application. Any Region Changer V.1.1b makes permanent changes to your Wii's NAND, which is the internal memory that stores important system data. If these changes are done incorrectly or if the files are corrupted, your Wii could become unbootable or unable to read discs. Therefore, you should only use this application if you know what you are doing and if you have a backup of your NAND with either BootMii as boot2 or Priiloader with BootMii as IOS installed. These tools can help you restore your Wii in case of a brick.

Also, you should be aware that some updates from Nintendo may break the region changing functionality or even brick your Wii if you have changed your region to Korea. For example, the 3.3rev03 update to the shop channel prevents you from changing your shop country region, and the 4.2 update will brick your Korean region changed Wii with a 003 Error brick unless you remove the Korean key using KoreanKii first. Therefore, you should avoid updating your Wii if you have changed your region with Any Region Changer V.1.1b.

With that said, if you still want to use Any Region Changer V.1.1b, here are the steps to follow:

  • Download Any Region Changer V.1.1b from here and extract the files to the root of your SD card.

  • Launch the Homebrew Channel on your Wii and select Any Region Changer V.1.1b from the list of applications.

  • Read the disclaimer and press A to continue.

  • Select "Change setting.txt" to modify the settings in this file. You can change the AREA setting (which determines which region the System Menu should be), the GAME setting (which determines which region of discs and channels the System Menu will boot), and the VIDEO setting (which determines the Wii's video mode). Press A to save your changes.

  • Select "Change SYSCONF" to modify the settings in this file. You can change the IPL.LANG setting (which determines what language to use for various things) and the IPL.SADR country setting (which determines region information for the Forecast/News Channel and the Wii Shop Channel). Press A to save your changes.

  • Select "Install System Menu" to install the System Menu of another region if you want. You can choose between USA (3.2U), Europe (3.2E), Japan (3.2J), or Korea (3.3K). This option will also install a patched IOS that supports all disc and channel region free and enables Starfall Rescue Mode (which lets you access Recovery Mode by holding Y on a GameCube controller when booting). The patched IOS will be deleted after use.

  • Once you are done with all the changes, press B to exit Any Region Changer V.1.1b and reboot your Wii.

Congratulations! You have successfully changed your Wii's region and language settings with Any Region Changer V.1.1b! Enjoy playing games and accessing channels from different regions on your Wii! 0efd9a6b88
